Kings Canyon fire disruption - Wednesday 28 September

There will be disruption to tours going through the Red Centre this week with severe bush fires forcing the closure of Luritja Rd (in and out of Kings Canyon) in Northern Territory.

All passengers currently in the Kings Canyon area (on the OCS and AR3 tours which departed on Monday) will be evacuated by Adventure Tours Australia vehicles this evening.

Tours that departed Alice Springs on Tuesday 27 September – OCS, AR3/PBS, AR4/AY4/AY3 are currently at Ayers Rock campground and will be spending night 2 at Yulara instead of Kings Canyon, and are likely to no longer visit Kings Canyon.

Tours that departed from Alice Springs on Wednesday 28 September are currently not affected, with the situation to be reassessed by 12pm tomorrow.

Northern Territory emergency services are working with local station owners to keep the fires under control, and Adventure Tours Australia are closely monitoring the situation to ensure passenger and crew safety is top priority.

Please be assured all passengers are safe. If you are booked on an upcoming tour that may be affected or have any concerns please contact our reservation hotline on 1300 654 604.

A situation update will be posted as soon as possible tomorrow (Thursday 29 September). We expect a return to normal scheduling by Friday 30 September.
